GROUND RULESWhat a Swap Is (And Isn't)

A playlist swap is a mutual promotional agreement: you add a track from another curator's artist to one of your playlists in exchange for them adding one of your artists' tracks to theirs. Done right, swaps expand reach authentically. Done wrong, they look like pay-for-play and can trigger Spotify's fraud detection.

Good Swap
Organic fit. Real, active followers. Both sides agree in writing.

STEP-BY-STEPExecuting a Playlist Swap
STEP 01Identify Target Partners

Look for labels, managers, or curators in the melodic house / progressive / EDM space with active Spotify playlists. Find them via: Spotify editorial playlists showing which tracks our artists sit alongside, Chartmetric or Soundcharts, SubmitHub, PlaylistSupply, or existing label relationships.

STEP 02Qualify the Playlist

Before reaching out, verify via Chartmetric: real follower count (1K+ min, 10K+ ideal), updated within 30 days, genre coherence, organic stream ratio. Also check: is their artist a fit for our playlists?

STEP 03Outreach — The First Email

STEP 04Confirm Terms & Execute

Confirm in writing: which tracks, which playlists, start date, 2-week minimum duration. Add their track first — establish trust. Log in the Playlist Swap Tracker spreadsheet.

STEP 05Track, Report & Renew

After 7 days pull stream data from S4A. If performance is strong (top 3 source), flag as priority partnership. Remove tracks after agreed period. Aim for 5–10 reliable recurring partners compounding over time.
